17 April 2009:
Hi Everyone
Well where do I start. The seasons over but there is always heaps to do through the off season (will elaborate on this further).
Since my last blog we have had four nights of racing.
The first show was a trip to Nelson for the two Super saloons on the 4th April. We had a lot of fun and probably enjoyed this meeting more than any we’ve had all season. The trip up was cruisey and very enjoyable for the nine of us in the Big Kahuna. Both cars went really well and the guys had a ball. The night was capped off nicely with Josh setting a new lap record previously held by Ian Burson. This was a pretty big achievement considering it was the first time on the Nelson track for Josh’s car.
The following weekend was the Easter Meet at the Glen in Christchurch. Friday night we had a bad run, with Josh having a DNF after a tyre was taken out. And same again on the Saturday night which meant a back start in the feature. However we didn’t get our set up right and that, coupled with Josh feeling off colour meant we didn’t progress much at all.
Bruce did a lot better and was peddling well, when in one of the heats as he was making a superb inside pass on Huddlerock, Huddlerock tried too late to defend his line and came down on Bruce clipping his right front rim, losing the steering wheel and spinning himself into the wall real hard. His car was a wreck. Unfortunately the referees didn’t see what happened so Bruce was put to the back. This cost him valuable points. Just a shame video evidence can’t be used more because it would save a lot of the wrong calls that are made when the referees don’t see clearly what happened. Wouldn’t instant replay on a big screen for all to see be awesome!
Luke also had a weekend with mixed result in the Modified. A good field of quality cars lined up for the Modified Invasion and the racing was pretty intense. On the Friday night he won one heat, got to about 2nd or 3rd in another and had a DNS in the next due to a shattered rotor which we couldn’t fix in time. On Saturday he started 6th on points meaning 6th on the grid. He did extremely well in both heats with another win in one of the heats where he came from midfield to blitz the frontrunners and pull a decent gap to win easily. He came in 3rd in the pole shuffle and was looking like the hot favourite to take out the final. The flag dropped and he shot past Bunter Pierce (3NZ) into 2nd place then the orange came on and there was a re-start. Unfortunately on the re-start Bunter drove down onto him taking out his rear tyre.
So that was the end of that. After the final finished we couldn’t help feeling pleased in a way that we hadn’t run because there was so much carnage and we could have come off far worse than a flat tyre!
Sunday we shot up to Blenheim with the Super Saloons for our final run of the season. Good trip up but didn’t enjoy the meeting. The meeting was extremely slow starting at 5pm and still going at 11.15pm and when you have travelled a long way and have to travel all the way home again after the meeting, you kinda want to get away a.s.a.p. Josh just didn’t have his heart in it, mentally his season was over, but Bruce went okay, he even had a run in Matts Superstock which he seemed to enjoy. Then we couldn’t find any food for our trip home. Couldn’t find any food at the track, KFC closed early, the Service Stations were on lock down and MacDonalds had a queue that stretched almost around the outskirts of the town. Consequently we didn’t get home until 4.30am and were stuffed the next day. Not exactly a great finish to the season!
Then we decided to have one last go with the Modified so we headed to the Coast for the King of the Coast. What a beautiful day it was, warm and not a breath of wind. The atmosphere was very relaxed although there was mud everywhere and the track looked like one of our ploughed paddocks! Jared and Amanda kindly saved us a seat with them at the top of turn four, so we were able to sit back and enjoy the racing. There were good fields of cars over seven grades and racing was interesting. The first Super Saloon race saw the 17 Lovelady car slide into the wall in front of us (because of the ruts in the track) followed in by Paddy (46e). No real damage and they re-started the race. After that it was pretty much one lane racing. Luke drove well and went into the final 2nd equal on points . He drove well to leave the field behind, taking the race win and King of the Coast for the Modifieds. So we did end on a good note after all.
Now we’re looking forward to a break and a chance to catch our breath before diving into another season. There will be the motors to do, strip and re-build the current cars, re-paint and sign write, work to do on the Big Kahuna and Josh is talking about a new car for himself. All this has to be done before September and preferably before we leave for a six week trip to the States on the 24th June. So there won ‘t be much lazing around at BRT this winter. Ricky and Matt are still deciding what to do with their cars for next season so will keep you all posted on this one. Until next time.
Take care everyone.
2 April 2009: Hi All, Just a catch up since our last update.
NZ Superstock Teams weekend in Palmy was awesome as always and we had a ball. We had two BRT cars in the Stratford Team (Ricky & Matt) and the team did really well taking two wins (one for Ricky and one for Matt) in the heats and finishing fourth overall. The racing was awesome but still looking forward to the day the Panthers topple off their perch!
Woodford Glen series...generally been fun with Josh finishing 2nd overall and Bruce 5th. Bruce has had no end of trouble with his magneto and this has affected his results considerably. Josh had similar issues for two of the rounds of the series. We have only just found the problem and hopefully can get it fixed for the last few meets.
Battle of the Stocks...only Ricky racing at this one and he sucked big time...due to motor issues (not a Protech)...missing and popping etc. He and Matt also went up to the Superstock Teams Nationals in Auckland with the Stratford Team and got 4th overall, again. Unfortunately Matt got knocked out but is okay...as okay as a Superstock driver can be!
Last weekend we headed to Dunedin for the SI Super Saloon Champs and the Sth Pacific Grand Prix.
Good trip down but it doesn’t get any shorter! Don’t know how we did it all those years and wouldn’t want to be doing that again. However we did it in five hours and it was fine all the way...until we hit Dunnas ...and it began to rain! By the time we reached the track it was fair hosing down. Bummer. Could have stayed home in the warm. Then to add insult to injury we got struck in the pits somewhere around the scrutineering pad...like right in the middle of the road...and there we stayed for the next few hours. Well you can imagine the fun we had...nine of us sitting together real cosy like in the motorhome with nothing to do but watch some geriatrics racing geriatric Super Saloons from way back in 1999! Oops i think one of them was a BRT car! Haven’t we come a long way since then, or maybe not, that’s a matter of opinion. Next day was fine but cloudy so it took all day to dry the track enough to run the meeting that night. Even so it had to be track rolled but the result was a very drivey track all night. This made for some excellent racing. Bruce still having mag problems so he only did two of the four races. Josh had a good run and equalled Burson for making up places in the first heat. He went from 9th to 2nd and Burson went from 10th to 3rd. The second race Josh started on pole beside Richie and finished 2nd again. Going into the final for the SI Champs Josh was leading on points by 2 spots from Burson. Josh started at the rear on grid 13 and Burson started on grid 9. Consequently Ian had a better chance being further up on the grid and took the win overall with Josh doing real well to come in 2nd overall and Dennis Bolt 3rd. Not to take anything away from Burson as he drove clean and well all night and deserved his win.
The final race for the night was for the Sth Pacific Grand Prix and the format was reverse grid from the finishing places in the SI Champs. So Josh and Ian started at the rear with Ian on the outside. This was a very fast 25 lapper and awesome to watch. Ian got a good run down the outside with Josh not able to get clear quickly enough to keep pace with him. Mark Carey drove a good race to take out the win with Ian 2nd Martin Harcourt 3rd and Josh 4th.
Next weekend we are heading to Nelson for a spin. Will keep you posted.
Luke has been firing well in the BRT Modified and has brought in some good results. Unfortunately at his last appearance he took another tumble when one of the novice drivers Nigel Niven ran over Lukes front end sending him up and over. Hopefully the powers that be will finally do something about this kind of thing happening. Lets face it novice learner drivers should not be allowed to race in the field until they have proved themselves skilled enough to do so without continually wrecking other cars. This grade (and a couple or more of other speedways grades) are too expensive and too dangerous to take these risks with unskilled drivers mixing it up in the field. Anyways we have re-built the car again and will be at the SI champs this weekend in Greymouth.
Well that’s about it for today. Only a couple more meetings and it’s all over for another season. Looking forward to the break although you never really get a break in this game what with re-building cars etc. but we would probably go nuts if we had nothing ‘speedway’ to do for the rest of the year!
Cheers
Lynda
4 February 2009:
Only four more sleeps to Palmy. Can't wait. This year we have two BRT cars in the Stratford Scrappers, Matt and Rick are both driving for Stratty so guess what colour my face will be this weekend! Matts car left here last Friday night really late after a complete re-build in our workshop and I must say she looks great. Matt trialed it last Saturday in Nelson and loved the way it handled, Rick also took it for a spin and said it was the best handling car he had ever driven, so hopefully Matt will be able to put in a good performance at Palmy.
As for our Supers, we ran last weekend at the Glen in the third round of the series, but due to a lot of blocking and bashing, we didn't have very good results. Bruce got taken out in one of the heats putting him well back on the grid for the feature. Josh was blocked several times from passing in the first heat which was pretty frustrating. Then in the feature drove really well from the back to second place. He then attempted an outside pass on the leading car on the last corner but due to unforseen circumstances ran out of room and ended up in the wall. Unfortunately the car sustained quite a lot of damage and was unable to finish. The frustrating thing is that this sort of problem is becoming all to common and deterring a lot of drivers from continuing in the sport. Hate to moan on about it here but how else do you vent pent up frustration? Anyway we will return after we calm down and keep doing what we love. I just hope the powers that be get these problems sorted while we still have a class.
On a more positive note, our Modified had a good run winning two out of three. Well done Luke. This car is going extremely well and with a bit more experience should be up there with the best of the class. We decided not to run it at the NZ Champs this year as Luke really wanted more time in the seat before taking on anything major so roll on next year!
Happy racing
Go the Scrappers
Cheers Lynda.
13 January 2009:
Hi Everyone
Well we have just got back from the NZ Super Saloon Champs in Cromwell and glad to be home!
The trip down was long and seemed to take forever. When we arrived at 1pm on Thursday it was stinking hot and blowing a gale. Conditions at the track were unbearable, hot and dusty as. Had our practice but it wasn’t enjoyable because of the weather. Went back to the motel we had booked and the folks at the Golden Gate kindly allowed us to park the rig in their grounds and allowed all our guys to use the showers. Thanks Golden Gate. Had a cruisie night Thursday and got to bed reasonably early.
Friday morning we didn’t have to go anywhere as scrutineering was done right beside our rig in the car park. No real problems with the cars except for having to move the transmitter a smidgeon on 881. Then at 3.30pm we headed for the track and were so thankful that the day was way cooler and calmer than the day before.
Qualifying was eventful to say the least. The track was really rough but reasonably drivey. Bruce had bad luck from the start when he got taken out when coming fourth in his first heat. Second heat he went okay but then in the third heat got spun again, so did not qualify. He did however post the third fastest lap time for the night.
Greg got taken out in one of his heats too, but just managed to scrape up enough points to qualify. Josh had the best run, winning two of his heats and finishing highest on points in his group. He finished up second highest qualifier overall for the night. But because of the roughness of the track and hairy driving by some desperate drivers we decided not to do the Shootout, saving the cars for the next night.
Had a lazy day Saturday after washing the cars in the morning, then headed back to the track for the finals.
Bruce started fourth on the grid for the repercharge and got up to second before being spun yet again and hit by everything that moved, so that was his last chance gone. He did the first two non qualifiers races then had to retire due to a stuffed battery and no water pump. We were happy with the car though and it showed some excellent speed, just had bad luck.
Greg was pretty consistent through the finals heats and was looking to finish maybe in the top half a dozen when he too became the victim of another tyre cutting episode.
Josh also became the victim of desperate driving suffering a big hit in the first heat of the finals resulting in his first DNF, then in the final heat got taken out yet again and you can’t win races sitting on the infield!
However their were plenty of other guys in the same boat as us and you just have to get over it and keep tryin!
We would like to congratulate Shane McIntyre for his win, Dean Waddell for second and Dennis Bolt for third. Well done guys. As for driver of the Champs our pick would have to be Andy Erskine who drove extremely well and could have been on the podium, but became yet another victim of desperation. Maybe it’s time to look at how things can be improved in our grade to stop all the unnecessary carnage that happens at Champs, because it doesn’t result in a true picture for the public to see who are the better drivers out there. Not taking anything away from Shane, Dean and Dennis, but so often the true champions are the ones left sitting on the infield at the end of the night.
That’s all from me. Next stop is the Hoopla Wednesday night at the Glen.
Lynda.
22 December 08:
Its been awhile since our last update and things have gone to plan, sort of.
Canterbury Champs, getting there is supposed to be half the fun, but I don’t think the boys would agree. A fairly uneventful trip became a marathon effort when the turbo on the tow wagon went bang at the top of the Lewis Pass. OK cool, we can manage, that is until Leigh (who from now on shall be called ‘The Water Boy’) was sent to get more diesel out of the trailer and somehow managed to reach past the fuel containers and grab the one full of water, which he then put into the wagon. Yeah, we know, this is NOT a good idea. Rick was quite proud of himself for managing to drive a coupla hundred meters before everything went to custard.
But they did get there and Rick was the only Nelson car in attendance. He promised the Christchurch boys that he would behave, but rumour has it he had a few moments of regret when there were cars wide open outside him in the turns and a quick flick of the wheel would have made for some awesome entertainment. He did however keep his word (does anyone else find that strange???). And was also having a few issues with the right rear tyre, it appears there was too much power and it kept tearing through tubes. On that note he was happy with the speed and performance of the car, just didn’t finish all races.
Back home in Nelson with new rims on the right rear courtesy of Fraser at Elite Wheels, it was time to go and play with the Glen Eagles up for the first round of the McCall Trophy, Ricky hasn’t been selected to race for the Tigers this year and didn’t expect to be at this stage due to working out teething problems with the car. But he was up for the open races and having a bit of fun. Abraham has packed a sad about racing on Fireworks night here in Nelson, apparently he’s missed the actual Fireworks two years in a row coz he’s been head down ass up changing fuel pumps. Apart from this minor dummy spit from the car and crew it was a good night on the track.
Moving on to the return round of the McCall Trophy in Christchurch on the 22 November. We were all set to go down as part of the Tigers squad (all the drivers in the squad had been asked to go). Friday night the weather wasn’t looking too rosy and there was some discussion at the pub on whether it was worth going, everyone was a bit worried about finances (it costs a hell of a lot to tow a race car to Christchurch, stay overnight and then tow it back home again) no one in the team was feeling too rich. When news came thru on Saturday morning of rain in Christchurch, we called it and all stayed home. It did clear up down there and there was racing. But we did get on the track, here at home. This meeting only threw up a couple of whinges, the first whinge would have to be Fraser's rim, it lasted about 2 races, before the centre parted company with the rim. Not good. As for the second whinge, well, the car has a ‘miss’.
This ‘miss’ has been plaguing the team all season, after every meeting there are discussions on what could be causing it and after every meeting some part of the car has been pulled down or removed, checked over and put back the way it was after being ruled out as the cause. The last thing to be checked before the Challenge Cup weekend here was the computer. There were some minor tanty’s thrown when it took a long time to get the damn thing back again. It was, from memory, Saturday morning when it arrived back at the shed to go back in the car, after which it was time to load up and go racing. Another uneventful race night except for the smoke screen Rick was blowing all round the track, followed by a few flames when a red light came on and the oil dripping on the flows ignited, looked impressive but wasn’t really. And the ‘miss’ was still there. So, the car was rewired, twice,(didn’t quite work first time). The test would have been the South Island Championships here in Nelson, but unfortunately rained out. Next chance to try it out will be at the New Zealand SuperStock Championships at Woodford Glen on 3rd and 4th January 2009.
See you there.
13 December 08:
Hi everyone
Well we have a couple of meetings to catch up on since our last report.
First of all was the Gold Cup for Super Saloons down in Cromwell. We took the three cars (881, 2NZ, 3NZ) down for this one to have a practice for the NZ Champs which will be held there in early January.
The weather was really mild which was a welcome change from the usual blistering heat that we have experienced in Cromwell. So we left on the Friday night and stopped over at Fairlie for the night. Eleven of us went and all slept in the motorhome. This was a first for some of the crew and there were grave concerns about who might snore and where to put the offenders so us civilised folks could get some sleep. Surprisingly I had no complaints in this department and I must say I had one of the better sleeps I have had in the rig. The first night we did try to make the two youngest boys sleep in the back of the Dodge, but they reckoned it was too cold, got up in the middle of the night to raid the rig for extra blankets and made as much noise as possible to make us all ‘pay’ for ousting them to the boot of the Dodge. Didn’t wake any of us! Anyway the next morning we had a leisurely breakfast before setting off for Cromwell, where we parked up by a lake for lunch and a sleep before heading to the track at 4.30pm.
On arrival at the track we pulled in to the extended parking area and were made very welcome by the locals as is always the case in Cromwell. Got the cars out and scrutineered then wandered over to view the track which looked like it would shape up pretty good. There have been new lights installed and the track has had quite a bit of work done on it as well. Seemed to be a bit more of a bank on it than last time we were there. Looked like we were in for some good racing. And there was a good turnout of cars for such an isolated track, thirteen Supers. All in all we had a pretty good night. Bruce suffered a few problems with set up issues and Greg just couldn’t get the car loose enough for a start but gradually came right towards the finish of the meeting. Josh had the best run with a good set up and finished second over all.
Headed away after the meeting and stayed overnight in the motorhome again before heading home on the Sunday. Stopped for a BBQ at lunch time and arrived back in Whiterock at 3pm.
Our next show was last weekend at the Glen for the second round of the Super series. Took 881 and 2NZ to this one. The track was slick from the very first race, both cars came home with a win with Josh winning the round overall. We are now starting to get our head around Bruce’s new car which is good.
At this point we really want to thank Mike from Protech Engines who has to be one of the best engine builders we have dealt with to date, delivering on what we ask for 110% and his after sales service has to be the best in the country. He comes to the meetings and is always at the cars when they come off the track to check on their performance and help with any issues we may have had. So if you are looking for an engine builder, we couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Our next show is the Boxing Day meeting here at the Glen then the NZ Champs. So Merry Christmas everyone and a Prosperous New Year to you all. Enjoy every day you get and don’t take life too seriously! Have fun!

If you speak to any Driver/Car Owner, they will reassure you that getting their car to the track each Saturday Night is a massive task. Here's a thought for you. Try getting three top cars ready and prepared for a two day meeting. A task of this nature is only achieved through good planning, willing participants, and a lot of hard work. BRT has been very fortunate with the commitment of their crew to be able to even attempt this task. So to those involved, well done for the Champion of Champions weekend. Your efforts are much appreciated.
The Champion of Champions is a promotion with a mix of invited drivers, and Woodford Glen regulars. The Champion is found through a GP, however qualifying is via seven car sprint races. The challenge is to qualify high, yet take a car set up for short sprint races, and then turn it into a GP (enduro) car. A pole shuffle is held prior to the GP, making for some intense 2 lap sprints. This is a great format, and well done to Lewis Dawson and his team for putting this promotion together.
So how did BRT go????!!
For the first time this season we fronted with three Super Saloons. 2nz Josh Boulton and his Bad Bowtie, 881 Bruce 'Big Daddy' Boulton with the new Lovelady beast, and 3nz Greg 'Iceman' Keegan driving the ex 881.
The sprint races were a challenge on the first night. Josh found the track conditions challenging, with wheel spinning issues, not to mention the car missing. Even in the final sprint race of the night Josh was wheel spinning half way down the back straight and missing again, but still managed to chase Emmerson across the line. Bruce had a forgettable evening with traction at a premium. He lost places when his motor died on turn four, then in the next heat snapped a front wheel off. Greg was at the other end of the extreme, achieving some top results and good qualifying points. The surprise package was Ron Taylor 71n, topping the leader board. Ron was hauling. 2nz developed a misfire in the first and final race, other than that all cars were in a good condition for the second night.
With thirty degree temperatures in Canterbury, Saturday was a scorcher. The one thing this guaranteed was a slick track for the final. The Saturday night racing was conservative in qualifying, most just trying to consolidate their places and still have a car for the final. When the dust settled on qualifying both Josh and Greg were in the finals. Greg finding himself in second. With the pole shuffle Greg was up against Dean Waddel 81m. Being down on power to Dean, Greg was always behind the eight ball. Dean won the sprint, and moved Greg to grid three.
The final 25 lap GP, was going to be slick. Greg started in three and Josh at eleven. The usual spins and contact occurred during the race, with about four yellow lights. Several cars had mechanical failure, such as 81m having a brake rotor shatter whilst leading. Both 12n Shane Carey and 21n Ian Burson suffered punctures during the race, and both managed to make it to the infield without interrupting the race. Well done to both. As the laps were clocked up it was obvious that Josh was hauling. When the checkered flag dropped, 58c Ritchie Taylor crossed first, with 3nz Greg Keegan second and 2nz Josh Boulton third. We at BRT were elated over the result, especially having found a great set up for 2NZ.
If only this was how things ended. Unfortunately a referees call excluded Josh from the race, claiming he deliberately caused Ian Burson's puncture. Understandably Josh protested as the rules allowed him to do, especially given no contact was intentional. However, this protest was lost. We at BRT don't want to get into the in and outs of this process, but we do believe if a process is to be followed, it needs to be consistent and accurate. Given the emotions of the night Josh lodged an intention to appeal, as per the SNZ rules. This drew to an end what was thought to be a successful evening, leaving us a little gutted.
What can we take from the Champion of Champions? Josh's beast was hauling on a slick track. Old foxes like Greg Keegan still have what it takes. Bruce has been hauling this season, but had a string of bad luck this night. If you want spectacular this season watch 7m Brent Emmerson. Finally a lot can be achieved through team work. Well done BRT crew
The next meeting for the saloons will be Cromwell on the 29th November.
For those wondering about the 871 Modified, it is at LRC getting repaired. It shouldn't be too far away. I think the comment of the night about Luke's roll, came from Josh “at least he wasn't trying to nana the car”.
See you at the track

4 November 08:
After a hectic time leading up to racing last saturday, the Canterbury Champs were rained out! Really annoying to get to the track, unload, then be told it is cancelled. Never mind, at least we were ready for the next night and were able to chill out on Sunday.
Despite having a lot more crew this season, we still find ourselves almost full time keeping the cars in shape. But the new crew are really keen and dedicated, our crew for this season are:
Brendon (Head Spannerman), Colin (fuel and 881 tyres), Graeme ( spannerman), Jason (spannerman), Jody (cleaning and records 2NZ), Mike (spannerman), Tink (cleaning and filming), Dave ( senior bouncer), Jared (public relations), Johnny (cleaning and records 881) and of course Lynda (2NZ setup and co-ordinate of the Team as crew chief.
So anyway the Champs finally got underway Sunday night after a bitterly cold day. The night turned out to be surprisingly pleasant. We had an interesting night. Mixed results for the two supers. 2NZ still having motor issues (not running quite right). Also ran most of one heat on a flat RR which doesn't help with the handling. Finished 4th overall. 881 also had tyre issues having to call time before the first heat, because of a flat LR. Then the birdcage inverted and the body came down and sliced open another brand new tyre., resulting in a DNF. Car was going really well up until then. Managed to get it sorted for the feature which we won, so the night wasn't completely lost. As for the modified. Well what can I say. Luke was going really well and about to do the big pass on the opposition when he hit a big rut in the track and went airborne. That sort of ended the night for our Lucas. Never mind, John from LRC was very keen to fix it all again, so watch out, we will be back.
Next meeting was the first round of the series: Last Saturday we did the first round of the super series at the Glen. Again another 'is it on' kind of night due to the weather. Anyhow it did get underway and we had a great night. Josh had a better run than the week before, although we did have some setup issues. Finished 2nd highest on points going into the feature and a second in that race. 881 went into the feature third on points and finished 4th. 881 also had a win in one of the heats. The most fun race of the night was the second heat which Bruce won and Josh came second. They had quite a little father son battle going on which was fun to watch. Didn't get the 3NZ car out as we had spark plug issues which couldn't be fixed in time. Next meeting for us will be the Champion of Champions in two weeks.

Ricky's News ...
To put it mildly we have had a frustrating start to our season. From the time of our last update we got the body for the car and it was bright red! Thanks to Dad and Josh for all their efforts in preparing it. A week later we got the graphics thanks to Mum and Josh for the design work...a lot of time spent getting this right! Then Footie one of our sponsors set to applying the graphics. The car now looks awesome. Head crewman Aaran (now known as Abraham) gave him a hand with it and six hours later it was looking pretty sweet.
So onwards and upwards, yes? Ah no!!! We got to the last official practice and got rained out, which was all good cos Footie and Abraham hadn't quite finished the graphics. And the final, final practice was a week later. With the changes to the inside of the car a lot of weight had moved to the right hand side which made the car handle differently, it was doing wheel stands lifting the front wheel off the ground. It looked impressive but was a pig to drive. To rectify the problem, a stiffer spring was installed on the right rear corner.
And Opening night, not good. Of the three heats we finished one. Heat one, slight clutch issue saw the car go backwards off the start line (might I add it looks just as impressive going backwards as forwards), which gave the rest of the field a half lap head start, but Ricky managed to haul them in and make it up to fifth. We figure he was happy with the handling as there were comments from the crowd about Rick waving to them. Just to clarify, when Ricky is happy with the handling he drives at full speed one handed!!! Never at Palmy though! Heat two, suspension issues, DNF. Heat three was the front tyre issue, lack of air in right front. Abraham noticed it, I noticed it, unfortunately nobody did anything about it and it went all the way down. End of Opening night!! So to summarise the boys were sulking, they had pathetic little issues that prevented the car and driver from showing what they could do. You could say teething problems, bugs to iron out whatever you want, they just tell me it was a BAD night. But the car did get Best Presented for the night. Thanks to Footie for application and special thanks to BRT for all the preparation, painting, designwork and graphics. Donna
